Want to watch the 20 teams of the Premier League (PL) competing with the defending champions, manchester united? Plan a sports vacation with your friends to England and enjoy this game event live. The tickets can be easily availed from online sources.

The overwhelming demand for tickets is not surprising, keeping in mind that this is the country’s main football competition. Founded in February 20, 1992, this English professional league comprises the association football clubs. The PL is a corporation in which the teams or member clubs operate as shareholders. The season begins in August and continues till May, with each team playing 38 games.

Premier League Tickets: Game Facts

The event is sponsored by the Barclays Bank. Therefore, the Game is officially referred to as the Barclays Premier League. Most of the sports events take place on Saturdays and Sundays, with very few games happening during the weekdays.

Before securing tickets, it is a good idea to know a little about the game. The League came into being after a marked downfall of English football in the late 1980s. English football clubs were banned from European matches for five years starting from 1985. The Football League Division I, which had been the leading English football league since 1888, fell behind Serie A (Italy) and La Liga (Spain) in terms of attendance and revenues and many top players moved abroad.

A change came about in the FIFA World Cup of 1990 when the league reached the semi-finals. The year 1991 saw manchester united winning the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. Incidentally, the Taylor Report on safety standards in the stadium was published in the month of January in the very same year. The signs of a breakaway league became visible in 1988 when 10 clubs threatened to form a separate ’super league’. As stadia improved, match attendance and revenues increased, the top teams expressed their desire to leave the Football League to capitalize on the rising money influx in sports.

The agreement for establishing FA Premier League was signed on July 17, 1991. This new division had commercial independence from the Football League and the Association. The FA Premiere League comprised 22 inaugural members. The league altered its name and started calling itself simply Premier League from 2007.

Procuring Premier League tickets have become very easy with http://www.sportsstay.com. This online dealer offers tickets along with low-priced, decent accommodation facilities in and around the sports venue.
Football League Trophy Southern Section First Round vs Leyton Orient (a) – lost 2-0.

Top Goal Scorer 2005/06: Phil Jevons (striker) – 16 goals.

Players In

Darren Behcet (West Ham United – Free), Chris Cohen (West Ham United – Free), Wayne Gray (Southend United – Free), Terrell Forbes (Oldham Athletic – Free), Steve Mildenhall (Grimsby Town – Free), Jean-Paul Kamudimba (Grimsby Town – Free),

Players Out

Phil Jevons (Bristol City – Free), Steve Collis (Southend United – Free), Colin Miles (Port Vale – Free), Michael Rose (Stockport County – Free), Dale Williams (Shrewsbury Town – Free), Chris Weale (Bristol City – Free).

Yeovil Town survived their first season in League One following their two promotions in three seasons from the Conference. The Glovers finished in fifteenth place, six points above the drop, but were one of a number of clubs that were in danger of being dragged into a relegation scrap.

<a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/managers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Managers" >Manager Steve Thompson has been replaced with former Grimsby Town manager Russell Slade, who now gets the chance to manage in League One following the Mariners unsuccessful League Two play off campaign last season.

To make matters worse, top goal scorer for the last two seasons Phil Jevons has joined local rivals Bristol Rovers on a free transfer so the onus will be on new strike duo Wayne Gray and Jean-Paul Kamudimba who signed from Southend United and Grimsby Town respectively. As well as Kamudimba, Slade has brought in former Grimsby <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/goalkeepers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Goalkeepers" >goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall on a free transfer to replace Chris Weale, who, like striker Jevons, joined Bristol City.

Slade has added West Ham United duo Darren Behcet and Chris Cohen to the squad. Cohen was voted player of the season by the supporters last term after making over 30 appearances for the club on loan last season.

Paul Terry has signed a one year contract extension while Andy Lindegaard has agreed a new one year contract. Terry moved to Huish Park in 2003 following spells at Millwall and Dagenham and Redbridge while Lindegaard has made 174 appearances for the Glovers since joining in 1999.

Verdict

Yeovil finished just six points above the drop last season but have since lost top goal scorer Phil Jevons with no obvious replacement. Russell Slade is a good manager but may find himself fighting a losing battle next season. Back the Glovers at 5/2 to face the drop.

Fantasy soccer is not a mainstream fantasy sport in America just like soccer is not a mainstream sport. However, if you are someone who follows the game abroad, then here is a look at how some of the big names have performed for your fantasy team this season and what may lie ahead in next year’s campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd): The off season found him at the heart of the rumor mill with the ongoing debate of whether the Man United player would switch over to the Spanish league and play for Real Madrid. Speculation arose and was shot down time after time until finally the window shut and the season got underway. Ronaldo missed a few of the opening games which if you were paying attention, <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/managers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Managers" >managers in salary cap leagues waited to purchase Ronaldo until a couple weeks into the season, when his price had dropped several dollars. Ronaldo returned and brought his goal scoring touch with him. With a handful of games remaining in the 2008/2009 campaign, Ronaldo once again finds himself at the head of the goal scorers list, yet with a significantly lower total this year with 17 netted. He is chased closely by Nicolas Anelka of chelsea who has 15 and then a three split between Robinho of Manchester City, and Gerrard and Torres of liverpool whom have 13 each. However, Ronaldo has once again been a huge fantasy producer and is a consistent source of points week in and week out, though not to the extent of last season. Looking ahead, the speculation is sure to start right up about a transfer but this time I think he will indeed make a switch, likely leaving behind the EPL.

Robinho (Manchester City): As previously mentioned, Robinho has slotted 13 goals so far this season in his first year in the EPL. Expectations remain high as Robinho can be truly brilliant from moment to moment, yet he seems to have not found his full stride as his year has been marked with inconsistency on the score sheet. When all is said and done, I would label his first year as a positive one and a stride forward with hopes of bigger things to come. Looking ahead, a lot of Robinho’s value will be determined by what transfers Manchester City make in the off season. They have declared their desire to bring in the world’s best to Man City, which a flourish of talented supporting players could increase Robinho’s value higher than it is at present.

Frank Lampard (chelsea): Lampard has put together a very solid season for himself, notching 12 goals and 10 assists in his campaign. He has been a consistent contributor to the Blues offense during a season where seemingly more questions than answers have been raised about their core group of athletes. Drogba, Ballack and Deco have been a few that have under performed with their efforts in the ‘08/’09 season and have not produced as the chelsea faithful would have hoped they would. Lampard meanwhile has been the key to the puzzle and the main driving force in Chelsea’s late season push towards manchester united in hopes they may be able to win the EPL in a last second flurry.

liverpool / arsenal: It is hardly fair to lump these two teams together when both have a plethora of dynamic players, but the stories underlining their seasons have run similar. Both made impressive runs in the Champions League and both remain in the elite four atop the EPL standings. Injuries have marred arsenal’s year with Cesc Fabregas, Van Persie and Gallas (arguably their two most pivotal players) missing chunks of time during the year. liverpool have been well … Liverpool. The never say die mentality has been ever present once again but they too have been bit by injuries to their key players including Fernando Torres and Gerrard. Liverpool is still well within striking distance of winning the EPL away from Man United, while arsenal is looking to finish out the year strong, finish in the top four and try again next campaign.

The Rest: Ok, admittedly it is not fair to lump all the other players, teams and stories into one section but the EPL is typically segregated between the top four of Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, and then the rest. Another year will come and go and another year will find the top four unchanged as the rest of the EPL stares upwards. There have been some clutch performers on these bottom sixteen teams such as Crouch, Bent, Davies and Zaki who all put forth solid scoring seasons.

It is tough to admit but when it comes to fantasy soccer the season is won and lost by who has more big name players come years end. Unfortunately, in the EPL the most influential fantasy stars are found on the big four teams which cause the remaining teams and performers to be shrouded by the stats the bigger names put forth.

Looking ahead to next season, once again the most influential players that will make up the core of nearly every successful fantasy soccer team will be created from big four teams. It is a sad, harsh reality, but one that must be followed to win a championship.

liverpool versus Inter Milan

This game is very important to both sides for entirely different reasons. For liverpool it is the only competition they can win this season and if they fail to do so then it would leave them just chasing 4th place in the league to look forward to.

For a squad that has been so expensively assembled it would amount to a great disappointment and underachievement. It would also cast a very big doubt on the future of Rafa Benitez not only for next season but for the remainder of this season as well.

Rafa Benitez has been living on the achievement of winning the champions league for far too long as there have been far too many disappointing results in games during his tenure at liverpool.

They have gone out to a second-string arsenal team in both the FA cup and League cup in the past, lost to Burnley in the FA cup, beaten by a poor Benfica side in the champions league and just recently the major embarrassment of losing at home to Barnsley.

So this game against Inter Milan gives him a chance for a bit of redemption. Speaking of redemption, Inter Milan are not just playing for themselves but also for the credibility of SerieA as well because it would not do for them to continue to dominate in Italy but losing out to liverpool in the second round of Champions league.

They are not exactly playing very well either but have been getting the results and they have been very fortunate with some decisions that have gone their way this season as well.

They have to prove to the sceptics at SerieA that they do not need referees favouring them to defeat teams and they also would like to banish the shame they brought on the game last season at Valencia where it turned into a free for all for a lot of players.

It is going to be very difficult as Anfield is a particularly hard place to go to and get a result but all depends on little things here and there.

Rafa Benitez is perhaps more tactically astute than Roberto Mancini and that might come into play but Liverpool never seem to be convincing for 90 minutes. They seem to always start well but them go into their shell and concede a goal.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost always seems to hide in games as big as this and it is important that other players like Julio Cruz, Esteban Cambiasso and Patrick Vieira are on their mettle.

Neither team is particularly creative in the midfield and it will be interesting to see how fragile Liverpool’s confidence really is and how Rafa can break down a well organised side or how much influence Zlatan can have on a big game.

Roma versus Real Madrid

Roma are not in good form and they would have to be at their very best to defeat Real Madrid. They have to find a way to pick the correct team for this game as Luciano Spalletti has demonstrated in the past that he is cannot pick the right team for a big game such as this.

Roma’s biggest problem is their lack of defensive nous and it is extremely important for them that Juan is back from injury as without him they would suffer.

They have creativity in abundance and they would need Ametrano Mancini, Daniele De Rossi, Rodrigo Taddei, Franceso Totti, Alberto Aquilani and Simone Perrotta to be all on their game tonight.

Real Madrid on the other hand are a very compact team and possibly the most efficient team in the world today. They still have their fragile moments in defence and their main weakness is on the flanks where both full back, Michel Salgado and Marcello are not up to the standard of Real Madrid quality.

It is a big blow that Robinho would miss this game as he has been electrifying this season and also the central midfield is not quite right to me as Guti is a very creative player but he is not mobile at all and his defensive qualities are non-existent whilst the likes of Wesley Sneidjer, Mahamadou Diarra and Fernando Gago have not been entirely convincing.

It should make for an exciting game though possibly the best of the night in terms of quality if they both play to anywhere near their maximum potential.

Olympiacos Fc versus chelsea

Olympiacos have been better than usual this season and they may just surprise chelsea in the first leg.

They do not really have many star players but have a number of excellent players that can hurt chelsea.

chelsea, it is reported in some quarters are looking to rest John Terry and Frank Lampard as they have 1 eye on Sunday’s Carling cup final but they still have a number of excellent players to come away with a win.

It all depends on <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/managers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Managers" >manager Avram Grant as he is almost certain to play Didier Drogba as a lone striker and Olympiacos would have to be wary of him.

Schalke versus Porto

Both teams are in good form and this particular game can go either way depending on how well Schalke can put away the chances they create tonight and if they can manage to keep a clean sheet.

Porto are leading their league quite comfortably but are not always the best travellers in Champions league. They also seem to capitulate when things are going awry but they have enough quality to snatch an away win at a very intimidating atmosphere.

The big kick-off is upon us again and those experts in the know from the world of TV and press have been busy telling us how it all ends, even before it has begun! As usual fixed odds in focus have joined in via their e-zine service Tipped at the Post.

In the Premiership, although liverpool have spent big, they are not quite there yet and consequently are likely to fall short of Man Utd and chelsea again. The Blues will be keen to regain their crown, but United still appear to have the edge. arsenal are perhaps, one season away from being genuine challengers again; however, in Van Persie they do have a player capable giving the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Gerrard and Drogba a run for their money, with regards to player of the season. Spurs are getting closer to the big 4, but they are still not close enough and are more likely to be battling for the UEFA spots with Portsmouth, Villa, West Ham and Newcastle.

The likes of Reading, Everton, Sunderland and maybe surprisingly Derby can all make mid-table finishes. Most people will have the Rams as certainties to make an instant return to the Championship, but in Billy Davies they have a talented <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/managers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Managers" >manager capable of keeping their heads above water. At the bottom Blackburn and Man City can stay out of trouble – just; with the rest in a real battle. Wigan have signed a lot of players, but too many of them have a lot to prove and Middlesbrough – with some un-inspiring signings – could join them in the bottom two. Of the remaining 3 teams, Bolton might struggle to cope post Allardyce and slip out at the death, leaving Birmingham and Fulham breathing huge sighs of relief.

Charlton, with a good manager and plenty of cash, are more than capable of jumping straight back up from the Championship and taking Wolves along with them. Last season will have been a good experience for the black country outfit. Sheff U have an impressive forward line, but defence is a worry and the play-off’s look a more likely option together with Watford, Cardiff and one from Norwich, Coventry and Southampton. West Brom may well suffer a Wembley hang over and just miss out. Mid-table is probably the best Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich and Palace; with Leicester, Hull and QPR improving on last term, but not significantly. Colchester did remarkably well in their first year up, but are likely to find it a great deal tougher second time around and Preston are likely to suffer from the loss of David Nugent. Bristol City and Blackpool are more than capable of consolidating, but the others look vulnerable. Barnsley can just about survive, likewise Plymouth; leaving Stoke Burnley and Scunthorpe fighting the drop.

In League One, Forest are everybody’s tip for promotion, but they look destined to miss out again. They have brought in Neil Lennon, but it’s a very tough division and you have to wonder about his legs. Tipped at the Post’s two for automatic promotion are Doncaster and Millwall. The Yorkshire club are very ambitious and James Hayter is a cracking signing at that level. The Lions young side finished well and Willie Donachie will have them spot on. Huddersfield, Oldham and Luton are taken to fill the play-off places with Forest; just ahead of Carlisle, Swansea, Yeovil and Southend. Bristol Rovers can have a brighter season than many are suggesting, as can Hartlepool and Walsall, all 3 coming up together. Brighton, Tranmere, Crewe and Port Vale seem set for pretty uninspiring seasons; and Gillingham and Leyton Orient look certain to be bottom half material. Leeds need some luck with their appeal against the 15 point penalty, otherwise they could slip straight through. Swindon can stay up at their expense, but Bournemouth, Northampton and Cheltenham look to have it all on to avoid the drop.

In League Two Paul Ince can get one over Fergie – Darren that is! MKD can just pip Peterborough at the top, with Shrewsbury joining them. Notts County, Darlington and Rotherham are taken to make the play-off’s along with surprise packages Bury. Chesterfield, Bradford and Rochdale should all go close; with Hereford, Wycombe and Mansfield not too far behind. Lincoln have probably missed their chances over the past 5 years and Terry Butcher will not find life easy at Brentford. The two newcomers can hold their own, but the rest might struggle with Chester and Accrington Stanley making way for the return of Torquay and Oxford, who are taken to make their League comebacks.
