Imagine that you are a talented football player but struggling to retain your place in the national football team. You find out there is a football match coming up where you will be playing and the coach of the national football team will be watching you from the stands! What better opportunity can you ask for?

Well, you cannot ask for a better chance to impress the coach than that. The manchester united striker Michael Owen had a similar chance the other night against Wolfsburg in manchester united’s champions league fixture. And though it was the best chance to impress the coach,Michael Owen had a disastrous time in the field. He was seen limping off the ground in front of Fabio Capello, the English National team’s coach. This happened when Owen had been on the field for only 20 minutes.

manchester united’s coach Alex Fergusan blamed the wet surface for Owen’s injury. He also revealed that that Michael Owen had suffered a slight groin injury after training for the UEFA champions league fixture on Sunday. He pointed out that even though these things happen to footballers and he was not really worried about it, the injury would still keep Owen out for two to three weeks. He will therefore miss <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-clubs/man-utd-premier-league-clubs/"title="Man Utd\'s Staffs, Players, and News" >Manchester United’s English Premier League fixtures against Bolton and Sunderland.

The most worrying part of the whole Owen episode is that Owen will be unable to take part in England’s World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Belarus. Many fear this will mean that Owen might not become a part of Capello’s plans for the World Cup in South Africa next summer.

This is not only frustrating for Michael Owen, but also for his fans who thought the striker would find his old flair after arriving at Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium. The future doesn’t look good for Michael Owen. The most frustrating part of this all is that Michael can only wait and see how his fate is decided.

Fantasy soccer is not a mainstream fantasy sport in America just like soccer is not a mainstream sport. However, if you are someone who follows the game abroad, then here is a look at how some of the big names have performed for your fantasy team this season and what may lie ahead in next year’s campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd): The off season found him at the heart of the rumor mill with the ongoing debate of whether the Man United player would switch over to the Spanish league and play for Real Madrid. Speculation arose and was shot down time after time until finally the window shut and the season got underway. Ronaldo missed a few of the opening games which if you were paying attention, <a href="http://www.premier-league-football.com/category/premier-league-players/managers/"title="English Premier League Football Club Managers" >managers in salary cap leagues waited to purchase Ronaldo until a couple weeks into the season, when his price had dropped several dollars. Ronaldo returned and brought his goal scoring touch with him. With a handful of games remaining in the 2008/2009 campaign, Ronaldo once again finds himself at the head of the goal scorers list, yet with a significantly lower total this year with 17 netted. He is chased closely by Nicolas Anelka of chelsea who has 15 and then a three split between Robinho of Manchester City, and Gerrard and Torres of liverpool whom have 13 each. However, Ronaldo has once again been a huge fantasy producer and is a consistent source of points week in and week out, though not to the extent of last season. Looking ahead, the speculation is sure to start right up about a transfer but this time I think he will indeed make a switch, likely leaving behind the EPL.

Robinho (Manchester City): As previously mentioned, Robinho has slotted 13 goals so far this season in his first year in the EPL. Expectations remain high as Robinho can be truly brilliant from moment to moment, yet he seems to have not found his full stride as his year has been marked with inconsistency on the score sheet. When all is said and done, I would label his first year as a positive one and a stride forward with hopes of bigger things to come. Looking ahead, a lot of Robinho’s value will be determined by what transfers Manchester City make in the off season. They have declared their desire to bring in the world’s best to Man City, which a flourish of talented supporting players could increase Robinho’s value higher than it is at present.

Frank Lampard (chelsea): Lampard has put together a very solid season for himself, notching 12 goals and 10 assists in his campaign. He has been a consistent contributor to the Blues offense during a season where seemingly more questions than answers have been raised about their core group of athletes. Drogba, Ballack and Deco have been a few that have under performed with their efforts in the ‘08/’09 season and have not produced as the chelsea faithful would have hoped they would. Lampard meanwhile has been the key to the puzzle and the main driving force in Chelsea’s late season push towards manchester united in hopes they may be able to win the EPL in a last second flurry.

liverpool / arsenal: It is hardly fair to lump these two teams together when both have a plethora of dynamic players, but the stories underlining their seasons have run similar. Both made impressive runs in the Champions League and both remain in the elite four atop the EPL standings. Injuries have marred arsenal’s year with Cesc Fabregas, Van Persie and Gallas (arguably their two most pivotal players) missing chunks of time during the year. liverpool have been well … Liverpool. The never say die mentality has been ever present once again but they too have been bit by injuries to their key players including Fernando Torres and Gerrard. Liverpool is still well within striking distance of winning the EPL away from Man United, while arsenal is looking to finish out the year strong, finish in the top four and try again next campaign.

The Rest: Ok, admittedly it is not fair to lump all the other players, teams and stories into one section but the EPL is typically segregated between the top four of Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, and then the rest. Another year will come and go and another year will find the top four unchanged as the rest of the EPL stares upwards. There have been some clutch performers on these bottom sixteen teams such as Crouch, Bent, Davies and Zaki who all put forth solid scoring seasons.

It is tough to admit but when it comes to fantasy soccer the season is won and lost by who has more big name players come years end. Unfortunately, in the EPL the most influential fantasy stars are found on the big four teams which cause the remaining teams and performers to be shrouded by the stats the bigger names put forth.

Looking ahead to next season, once again the most influential players that will make up the core of nearly every successful fantasy soccer team will be created from big four teams. It is a sad, harsh reality, but one that must be followed to win a championship.

Aggression plays an important role in soccer drills for youth. Here are some of the techniques that can help the coaches in training their team regarding aggressive drills.

Protect Drill

The protect drill method requires the player to protect the ball. This effective method can improve the drilling skills of the players largely. This method requires the players to work one on one.

The coach should have one player stand next to a ball, having his feet shoulder width apart. Now, have another player stand on the outside shoulder of the first player.

Now, the main task of the second player is to get his foot on the ball, by any means necessary. The job of the first player is to keep balance, protect the ball, and respond to open aggressiveness by a defender.

Getting Closer

The coaches can try this method with the same setup, as they require in the above method for protecting the ball. In this method, again, there are two players.

The only difference is that the main task of the player furthest from the ball to try to wedge his body between the inside player and the ball any way he can.

Push and Drag Drill

This method also ranks good for the coaches when it comes to teaching soccer drills for youth. In this method, the coach needs to have two players stand facing each other.

Now, instruct them to grab the other player’s jersey up by the shoulders. This will put them face to face in a strong position. Here, let me add that you as a coach should stand 10 yards away from the players with a ball at your feet.

Now, as soon as you say “GO!” blow the whistle, the task of the players to try to get the ball away from the coach. The players need to work hard on this and should show some aggression. The first to reach the ball wins.

What is more, in this method for soccer drills for youth, if the players are not showing aggression in their effort, you should begin to dribble away from the fighting players, forcing them to follow you in their tussling position.

At a soccer match, most acts become fouls only by degree. The player’s actions during the run of play are, in large measure, harmless in themselves, and will become fouls only when done in an unfair manner. Players often bump into each other while running, or push past each while each is trying to avoid a collision. They tussle over the ball, or leap to head a long pass and collide another player who is trying to do the same thing. They may kick at the ball and narrowly miss kicking their opponent’s shin. These actions are all considered to be an ordinary part of the typical soccer game, where most bodily contact is incidental to the players’ efforts to win the ball.

A few acts, however, are deemed fouls whenever they take place–regardless of how or why they occur. One kind of worst of these acts is the foul and misconduct of spitting.

Spitting

Though it has probably been with us ever since Adam and Eve first left the Garden of Eden, spitting is particularly frowned upon away from the athletic field, where it is considered the act of a barbarian. But though always vulgar, spitting is regarded in some cultures as a particularly vile and offensive insult. For this reason, spitting at anyone during the course of a soccer match is a red-card offense; and spitting at an opponent during play is a foul as well as a misconduct, punished by a direct kick as well as a send-off.

Referees are, however, careful to punish the misconduct, and not simply the vulgar. Like many athletes, soccer players have an unfortunate tendency to spit quite innocently, occasionally on indoor carpets as well as natural grass. But despite what their mothers might have to say about the matter, on a soccer field only spitting at another person is a misconduct.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and has literally become a mass phenomenon. The game of soccer involves two teams of eleven players, a referee, a ball and two goals. The objective of the game is to put the ball in the old onion bag using your feet or your head. The only player allowed to touch the ball with the hands is the goal keeper.

Soccer also known as football in Europe is a great outdoor activity for kids. The continuous nature of the game makes it great for fitness and cardiovascular health. Soccer helps increase the aerobic capacity of children and helps burn excess calories that can be consumed at a young age. Soccer is one of the greatest enemies of children obesity.

The physical demand of soccer also lowers body fat and also develops and improves muscle tone. Can PlayStation do this? Not only will Kids Soccer build strength, it will also improve the child’s flexibility and endurance while developing bone strength.

The nature of the game is generally a non-contact sport which reduces the chances of your child getting hurt. It teaches your child co-ordination and promotes good social skills like Team work and sharing. There is no better way for players to make new friends and meet different people from different backgrounds.

Not only will Kids Soccer increase fitness, it will also increase skills such as concentration, persistence and self discipline. Inevitably participation in Soccer will lead to an increase in confidence and self-esteem and reduce the effects of anxiety.

The best part of Kids Soccer is that it requires very little equipment. A soccer ball and two knees that bend are the requirements. You have two choices, your kid could be another obese statistic or he might be the next David Beckham.
